Most Australian Seed eaters like Budgerigars(parakeets),Rosellas and grass parakeets do not eat fresh wet greens in the wild other than the rainy season to raise their young. The rest of the seasons are very dry and therefore little succulant vegetation.
The dry greens are readily accepted by most of these birds in captivity. Many owners fret over their birds not eating their veggies and this is a good way to get them to and a healthy addition to their diet. I add one little bag to 2 pounds of seed mix.
