THE MOURNING DOVES, RED-HEADED FINCHES, MOUNTAIN JAYS, AND RING-NECKED DOVES REALLY LOVE THIS SEED. THERE'S NO WASTE AND FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, IT'S VERY TASTY!

I will have to give this a try, thank you so much, I really hate what I am using, they birds make such a mess on the front porch and I have all sorts of seedling growing up in the flower bed...

I throw it on the driveway, you know. Nothing grows there because it's paved. I don't know if this stuff sprouts or not!
We get so much Rain in the winter this is not an option or it would get soggy and yucky.. I do toss food out on the drive in the summer, they love it like a feeding frenzy.

I did have bird seed in feeders until the mountain jays figured out how to get seed from a finch feeder. They are very smart birds. There was one time when I was camping in the mountains and was about to take a bite of a muffin when one of the mountain jays perching on nearby, low branches swooped over and took a big chunk of the muffin! I've been looking at bird feeders, trying to figure out what I'll be able to use this winter so that the smaller birds will be able to eat. When it's snowing/wet, I throw the seed on the covered porch for the larger birds.
